About OFHS Visit OFHS OFHS Services Web Resources
Holford Centre Monthly Computer Open Day

Open Day - Saturday 2 October 2010
Note the details below still relate to our 2009 Open Day
We will be in Woodstock again for 2010

This year's Open Day will be held in the Marlborough Enterprise Centre, just outside Woodstock.

As usual it will run from 10am to 4pm.

This new venue will afford  us more, flatter exhibition space and more car parking spaces. We hope the improved accessibility will be appreciated by both exhibitors and visitors alike.

The location: Marlborough Enterprise Centre
The facilities: Marlborough Enterprise Centre

The Open Day will feature the usual assortment of visiting Societies, publishers, dealers in second hand books and postcards, and the like. Our own Society's library and search services will be available for consultation, whilst we will also be manning a beginners' helpdesk. Additionally, there will be computing demonstrations, which will give advice on such things as which genealogical software package to choose, and the use of the internet in family history.

The stands will be spread across both the MEC Hall and the adjoining Sports Hall.
The hall layouts can be downloaded as PDF files: MEC Hall layout - Sports Hall layout

Admission to the Open Day is free, as is the on-site car park.
Light refreshments will be on sale at reasonable prices.

How to get to the Marlborough Enterprise Centre

By Bus from Oxford

If you take this option, get off the bus outside Blenheim Palace gates
Cross the road and head right towards the speed cameras.
Turn left just past these cameras into Cadogan Park, which turns into Princes Ride.
This is a straight road, do not turn off it.
When you reach the staggered T juntion at the end of Princes Ride turn left into Flemings Road.
This is a housing estate with no "main road".
At the end of Flemings Road turn right into Shipton Road.
The MEC is about 2 minutes walk from this junction.

By Car from the North-West (A44)

Turn left in Woodstock onto Hensington Road.
Take the second right.
After a short distance the MEC is on your left and the car park on your right just before the pedestrian crossing.

By Car from the South

From the South-West (A4095) go straight ahead at the A44 roundabout.
From the South-East (A44) turn right at the A4095 roundabout.
Take the next left (Shipton Road, signed Hensington).
After a sharp right and then a sharp left followed by a speed-chicane,
the main car park entrance is on the left and the MEC on the right
immediately after the pedestrian crossing.

By car from the North-East (A4260, A4095)

Turn right from the A4095 into Shipton Road (signed Hensington) and then follow as above.

On-site Car Parking

Visitors

The car park is just across the road from the MEC.
Coming from Woodstock, the entrance is on your right just before the pedestrian crossing.
Coming from the A4095, the entrance is on the left immediately after the pedestrian crossing.

Some disabled parking is available immediately in front of the MEC itself,
please speak to one of the car park stewards if you need to use one of these spaces.

Stall-holders

It will be possible to get close to the hall early in the day for unloading, and at the end of the day for loading up again.
The spaces close to the MEC will be needed for disabled access during the day.
Please move your vehicles either to the main car park, or to one of the spaces on the same side of the road as the MEC if you need access to stock during the day.
If in doubt, speak to one of the car park stewards.
