Map of Oxford City parishes

This map was traced by Howard Fuller from material in what was then the Centre for Oxfordshire Studies (later just Oxfordshire Studies and, in 2011, combined into the Oxfordshire History Centre at St Luke's in Cowley). This uncoloured map is on display in the family history section of Oxford's Central Library.

The master copy has the street map background greyed a little but this distinction was impossble to preserve adequately in the scanning process. Instead Malcolm Austen has applied a colour wash to the various parishes to clarify the boundaries. An A3 print of this coloured map was distributed to members of the Society with their April 2001 Journal. Copies of the map (including a laminated version) will be available from the OFHS stand at various fairs.

Oxford City Parishs (thumbnail linking to larger image)

This thumbnail copy of the map is linked to a larger (35kbyte) copy which you should be able to view with your web browser - it will not be possible to read the text but the parish shapes should be clear. That linked copy should also be suitable for printing from your web browser.

If you have a high resolution screen or want to print a higher quality copy then you can right-click on one of the following links and save the file to disk for viewing with or printing from a dedicated graphic utility. You may still find the text hard to read, it is much clearer on the Society's A3 printed version.
